Bulawayo Airport is the primary air travel service in the province-city of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The airport is connected to the city by means of the Turk Mine national highway. Travelers arriving at the place can immediately proceed with their exploration of the picturesque city with a car rental at Bulawayo Airport.
Bulawayo is the site of the famous ruins of the Khami city which flourished in the 15th century. The great city, fashioned after the capital of Great Zimbabwe, used to be the seat of power of the Kingdom of Butua and the Torwa Dynasty. It was abandoned in the middle of the 16th century, and is now a national monument.
For natural landmarks, there is the Martobo Hills which is just an hour’s drive away with a cheap car rental at Bulawayo Airport. The hills display a series of interesting landforms that stand on a shield of granite. A climb to the tallest and largest boulders is rewarded with scenic views of the forests that surround the area.
Visitors should also not miss the Barbourfields Stadium, home to a famous soccer team in Zimbabwe, the Highlanders F.C. It is commonly called as “Emagumenu” and has a capacity of up to 32000 spectators. Because of the large number of audience it can hold, the stadium is also the venue of major national football games.
From the airport, it is easy enough to look for accommodations with a budget car rental at Bulawayo Airport. The closest is the Holday Inn, approximately 16 km south of the airfield.
