Anchorage Airport

Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is the US state of Alaska’s major airport. It is located roughly four miles to the south of downtown Anchorage. As the second largest hub for Alaska Airlines, most passenger flights operate to and from Seattle, Washington and Fairbanks, Alaska. The airport is an ideal option for those seeking to rental a car before exploring the area.

The north and south terminal make up the Anchorage Airport with three runways. International flights depart and arrive at the north terminal while the south terminal serves primarily domestic flights. Passenger services include a lost and found counter, skycap and porter services, visitor information centres and storage facilities.

Airport shuttle is available between the north and south terminal to the car rental centre. Travellers should book car rental in advance to avoid confusion and to easily access the shuttle service on arrival.

Passengers at the airport are offered a handful of dining options. For early morning or redeye flights enjoy delicious pastries and fresh cups of coffee from the Crosspoint Café. The Crosspoint Deli offers sandwiches, candies, chips and other quick eating options. For those with a bit more time to spare, the cocktail lounge is also available.

There’s plenty of shopping at the Anchorage Airport. The Travel Shop offers every travel necessity from magazines and best-selling novels to accessories and snacks. There is a duty free shop available for last minute luxury purchases. An added convenience is the Mail Drop should the need to send postage arise. The airport also offers the VIP Denali Lounge, first class seats, wheelchair assistance, complimentary wireless internet and pet facilities.

The Municipality of Anchorage People Mover Bus stops at the airport every 30 minutes to deliver new arrivals between Dimond Center and downtown. There are a number of shuttle and limousine services that transfer guests to neighbouring cities such as Homer Seward and Whittier.

The Glen Highway connects passengers to the north of the city from the airport. If travelling south, the Seward Highway allows for travel to the southern area of Anchorage with ease. Car rental is essential for a smooth transition into either the north or the south from the airport.
