Memphis Airport

Situated approximately 18 miles from the centre of the city, the Memphis International Airport in Tennessee possesses facilities more than adequate for the average traveller’s needs. However, with one of the world’s most visited tourist attractions nearby, Elvis Presley’s Graceland, the airport can often be overcrowded.

The terminal building is divided into three concourses designed to simplify the arrival and departure procedures for passengers. Concourse A serves Delta Airlines. Concourse B remains dedicated to Northwest and Concourse C gathers the overflow of both in addition to the remaining few carriers of smaller airlines.

Passengers should be aware that the Concourses are an ample distance from each other. Depending upon pedestrian traffic, it could take as long as 30 minutes, laden with baggage, to walk between concourses.

Financial services within the airport include ATMs and currency exchange kiosks, and there are several shopping outlets along with a number of places of eat. In the lobby, amidst dining establishments like the Interstate BBQ and Da Blues Memphis Restaurant, the airport’s single most important feature stands; the Elvis Presley’s Graceland Gift Shop.

Getting to and from the Memphis Airport is a simple matter. Regular bus service runs either to Graceland or downtown Memphis. Schedules and fares are normally posted at the bus stop. Conveniently beyond the baggage claim area of each concourse, taxis queue in front of the terminal building.

Visitors interested in avoiding the difficulties of public transportation can rental a car at one of the service counters within the terminal building. The popular companies of Hertz, Budget and Avis are represented among others.
