San Francisco Convention Center

The home of the Golden Gate Bridge continues to attract and charm visitors in their thousands to this day. The ‘city by the bay’ is one of the most popular destinations in the United States thanks to its rich and eclectic mix of cultures, unmistakable hilly geography and famous landmarks.

The city is serviced by nearby San Francisco International Airport, located just a short 20km drive from the city’s downtown. The San Francisco Convention Center is in the downtown area of the city and acts as a perfect base from which to enjoy the city and surrounding regions by rental car.

Downtown allows visitors to easily get to the Golden Gate Bridge and the harbour area with its boat trips over to Alcatraz. Around the corner is Chinatown. One of the must-try attractions in San Francisco is its iconic electric streetcars.

There is more to the city than the fascinating downtown with its museums and galleries however, and a daytrip out in a rental car takes the visitor to some stunning sights. A short drive from the city is the world famous Napa Valley wine lands with their vineyards, and wine buffs can take tour of a number of manufacturers and pick up samples of the local wine. A drive down to the waterfront affords a boat trip to either Alcatraz or a cruise around the bay.

Also within a short drive of San Francisco Convention Center are two natural wonders, the unspoilt Muir Woods and the artistic enclave of Sausalito. Muir Woods is home to thousands of imposing giant redwood trees and affords stunning walks through natural forest, while Sausalito is a coastal village reckoned by many people to be the prettiest place in the whole of the US. The village is home to a beautiful waterfront walkway which takes in many bars, cafés and art galleries.

A drive from San Francisco by San Francisco Convention Center rental car also allows the visitor to easily reach the magnificent Yosemite National Park. The park is famous for being attached to the imposing Sierra Nevada mountain range, stunning granite cliffs and beautiful giant sequoia groves. Yosemite National Park can be reached in around an hour or so from downtown San Francisco by rental car.

The Moscone Convention Center area of San Francisco makes for a perfect starting point from which to visit the many attractions and sights of the city, affording simple access to local highways to leave the city and visit the surrounding region.
