San Jose Airport
The busy San Jose Airport serves the city of San Jose, California, and is just two miles northwest of Downtown San Jose. The airport is a major hub for car rental and a convenient entry point for visitors who wish to explore the city and nearby coastline.
The airport is the smallest of three airports in the Bay Area, despite San Jose being the largest city in the area. San Jose Airport serves in excess of 10 million passengers a year, fewer than both nearby Oakland International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.
The two-terminal facility is made up of Terminal C, the original terminal, and Terminal A, constructed in 1990. Many major US airlines serve the airport including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways, with only domestic cities served. Frequent flights connect San Jose with the likes of Chicago-O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Minneapolis/St Paul.
Facilities at San Jose Airport include restaurants, shops, telephones, money exchange counters, a first-aid station, a post office and a business centre, while ground transportation consists of taxis, rental cars, limousines and shuttles.
Most passengers prefer to pick up a rental car and drive into the city for maximum convenience, with online booking the best way to reserve a car. The airport lies close to three major freeways: US Route 101, I-880, and State Route 87.
Major attractions in San Jose easily reached from the airport by rental car include the Tech Museum of Innovation, an educational amusement park-like museum that focuses on technology, and the San Jose Museum of Art, a hub of contemporary exhibitions.
