Schiphol Airport

Amsterdam is famous for its relaxed atmosphere consisting of charming canals, interesting art galleries, museums, mouth-watering cuisine, and friendly people that never fail to attract visitors from all over the world. International travellers often land at the Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport that stands 15 kilometres from the city. The airport is also the hub for major air carriers like KLM and budget trans-Atlantic flights.

The Schiphol Airport has a terminal with check-in desks designated in three departure halls. The first departure hall has eight check-in rows and departure hall 2 offers the convenience of baggage drop-offs and self-service check-ins. Departure hall 3 is where check-in desks 17 to 32 are located.

The terminal offers machine-operated equipment for currency exchange and other banking transactions. A pharmacy and 24-hour clinic is also available to assist the medical needs of travellers. Courier services are offered both in the central lounge and the terminal area. Those who need to make important calls can rent for a phone at the information desk while business travellers can use the fax machines situated at different gates. Secretarial services are also offered to business travellers along with advanced conference equipment and the use of executive lounges. The terminal also has a hotel with shower facilities, bars, and restaurants while shopping opportunities are offered at the Schiphol Plaza right before customs as well as on immigration like duty-free outlets. There is also a sauna and a casino on the airside along with a 24-hour grocery.

Schiphol Airport offers a direct link to the train station in the central plaza of the terminal with trips to the central station every 15 minutes. Outside the terminal are public buses leaving every 15 minutes but there are also airport shuttles offering to take travellers to their hotels and various drop-off points in town. Travellers can also opt to take a cab outside the arrivals hall or they can opt for car rental instead.
