Edinburgh Airport is an airport that just so happens to be located in Edinburgh, Scotland. The is a well known airport and was actually the busiest airport in all of Scotland back in 2007, handling nearly 9 million people. This would make it the seventh busiest airport in all of the UK. This airport is very easy to get to by using the M8 motorway. In terms of who owns and operates the Edinburgh Airport, that would be the BAA. The great thing about this airport, and the reason why it sees so many passengers, is the fact that it is the main hub for three big airlines, two of which are EasyJet and Ryanair.
The present terminal is the same terminal that was around when it was constructed back in 1977. Although it has been upgraded many times, Robert Matthew’s (the lead designer of the terminal) main design remains unchanged, and the airport plans to keep it that way as long as the terminal is still workable. Amazingly enough, most of the newer terminals are built off this design, which means that even today this is still a very workable layout. This is a great airport to choose if you are going to be flying into Scotland. Over time this airport is only going to grow and become even more popular, which is what this airport is looking forward to.
There are a ton of cabs and buses that offer transport to and from the airport but rent a car to give your self the most freedom. Search for budget car rental at Edinburgh airport to save money.
