It now seems that 21c Museum Hotels, building on its main goal of offering the public contemporary art mixed with amazing service, has chosen to renovate and restore the former Metropole Hotel. This is a hotel that is known as a historic landmark in downtown Cincinnati. The goal is to restore the hotel as a centerpiece for the city.

21c Museum Hotels is a group that was launched back in 2006 by Steve Wilson and Laura Lee Brown. The 21c Museum Hotel itself, which is located in Louisville, was just recently ranked as the number one hotel in the United States and the 6th best hotel in the world by the Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for 2009.

The new 21c Museum Hotel in Cincinnati will be located adjacent to the Contemporary Arts Center and just across the street from the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Right now 21c Museum Hotels is working with the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation on the restoration of the old building. The renovations are set to start up next fall. The total cost of the renovations is expected to cost about $45 million.

The 21c Museum Hotel in Cincinnati will offer 160 rooms, as well as a 8,000 square foot contemporary art museum that is open to the public free of charge. The hotel will also have a Proof restaurant and bar that will serve contemporary cuisine made with locally grown ingredients. The goal of this renovation, however, is not just to offer a great hotel, but to restore a very proud building back to its former glory.
