It now seems that several big name airlines, like Delta, JetBlue, US Airways and AirTran, are now offering to waive fees customers would ordinarily pay to rebook their flights on alternate itineraries due to bad weather. However, this is an offer that is only being offered to certain parts of the country.
AirTran just recently said this past Wednesday that its passengers that were scheduled for travel Thursday and Friday to or from certain airports and locations may change their reservation without any kind of penalty. However, there will be some limitations of course.
Delta Air Lines also said on Tuesday that its customers who booked Delta tickets to, from, or through its Atlanta hub on Wednesday could make a one time change to their travel schedule without fees. However, this could only be done if tickets were changed by Thursday, and there will be some limitations.
JetBlue and US Airways both said on Wednesday that they too would waive change fees and fare differences to allow customers to book travel to different areas. However, as said by other airlines, both of these airlines warn of limitations as well.
Many passengers are very happy with this offer from these airlines. Others say that it appears to be a way for the airlines to try and get back on the good side of the public. Recently airlines have been under a lot of heat for the fees that they charge. Not only that, but airlines have also been under heat for how they treat overweight passengers. Although passengers agree that this “waving of fees” does not make everything all better, it is a good start.
