Apparently two men, who flew from Chicago to the Netherlands, have been held for questioning at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. The two men were held after United States officials raised suspicions over their luggage. This prompted some speculations that they may have been testing security levels at the airports.
Hezam al Murisi and Ahmed Mohamed Nassar al Soofi were found with a mobile phone taped to a medicine bottle. They also had a knife and a box cutter hidden in their luggage. Air marshals that were placed on the United Airlines flight noticed the suspicious items in their luggage.
United States officials asked Dutch police to detain the men after they arrived at Schiphol airport with their mock bombs. The security officials questioned Al Soofi as he went through security in Alabama on his way to Chicago. However, the men have not been charged with anything in the United States.
One of the men told the Transportation Security Administration he was carrying a lot of cash. Security officials went on to find some $7,000 on him. He was not breaking any law by carrying that much money, however.
Officials also went on to find several mobile phones and watches taped together in their checked bags. Al Soofi is believed to be originally from Yemen. He was suppose to fly from Chicago to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. However, after he got to Chicago he changed his travel plans to take a flight to Amsterdam. Al Murisi also changed his travel plans in Chicago to take a flight to Amsterdam. This raised even more suspicion among United States officials. The men are likely going to have to appear in court before a judge.
