It has now been reported that an Australasian man has been charged with attacking fellow passengers as, well as threatening a flight attendant. This outburst happened on a Qantas flight this past week from Tokyo to Sydney.

The Australian Federal Police said in a statement last Friday that the man, Tamas Halasz from Sydney, had to be restrained by the flight crew. The crew was forced to restrain him after he assaulted a number of people on the flight Thursday.

As soon as the plane touched down, police boarded the flight and took the man into custody. The man was charged with endangering the safety of an aircraft in flight, threatening to injure persons, assaulting airline crew, and committing an act of violence on board an aircraft.

Unfortunately for the man, these offenses come with a pretty stiff penalty if he is convicted. In fact, it is said that each one of these offenses carrier a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail. Halsaz was granted bail last Friday, and he will have to return to court next month.

It is not yet known if this man will get the maximum sentencing for his outburst on the plane. A lot of this is going to depend on what caused the outburst in the first place. Also, the court will want to hear if the man could have possibly been under intense stress and so on. The police have not said, nor has the airline said, what caused the man to lash out against passengers on the plane. It has not even been noted if the man just randomly chose to do this or if something set him off.
