Avis Rent A Car has announced that as the company looks for new ways in which to make car hire as environmentally friendly as possible they will be rolling out their Avis Eco Collection in twenty-one car rental locations across the U.K. Avis customers can now rest assured that they will be provided with a diesel car that is not only extremely fuel efficient but is guaranteed to boast sub-120 Carbon Dioxide emissions. The new fleet of Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDIs will be the first model to be supplied to customers who hire from the Avis Eco Collection. Head of Marketing at Avis U.K., Nick Mountfield said that the new Golf models were perfect as they guaranteed customers could do their bit for the planet whilst not having to compromise on either comfort or quality.
Avis Europe has been working hard since 1997 to reduce the company’s impact on the world’s environment. It has been working alongside the CarbonNeutral Company to develop the Avis Carbon Management Programme and in 2002 was able to declare itself Carbon Neutral. As a way of celebrating the launch of the new Avis Eco Collection the company has announced that during December this year and throughout January next year they will offset the carbon emissions of every Avis Eco car hire. Avis has also said that it will offset the emissions across the rest of the rental fleet by matching customers who choose to offset pound-for-pound.
If the new Eco Collection proves to be a success Avis plans to expand it by adding more models and different vehicle sizes.
