According to some new announcements, American Airlines has been going on about its presence in New York. This long list of announcements from American Airlines does include the possibility of co-locating operations with British Airways at JFK’s Terminal 8.

The United States carrier said that it is currently evaluating a proposal by the Port Authority of new York and New Jersey to develop an expansion of the new state of the art $1.3 billion international Terminal 8 to allow the airlines to co-locate their operations there.

This new move would enable British Airways passengers to connect more easily onto American Airlines’ network out of JFK. The announcement is significant for many reasons, and it comes ahead of the decision on antitrust immunity between British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia. These airlines were seeking to form a transatlantic joint venture similar to the Air France and Delta agreement. Right now British Airways is currently located in Terminal 7 at JFK.

Among some of the other announcements made by American Airlines, a new agreement has been made with JetBlue Airways to interline services in non-overlapping markets at New York and Boston. This allows JetBlue customers to connect onto 12 international American Airlines destinations from the two airports. American Airlines passengers will be able to connect onto 18 domestic routes served by JetBlue.

American Airlines said that it will also add 13 new routes at New York’s LaGuardia and JFK airports this year. These will be served by a mixture of American Airlines mainline operations and its regional affiliate American Eagle.
