Apparently all UK citizens that are planning to visit the United States in the next two years have been encouraged to make their Electronic System for Travel Authorization application soon. People who apply online for this application before September 8 will not have to pay the $14 charge that will come into effect on that date.

This system applies to all passengers who are traveling to the United States from countries that are included in the Visa Wavier Program. This does include the UK and most other European Union nations. A fee is being implemented for the Electronic System for Travel Authorization applications in order to fund promotions for the United States tourism industry.

The head of public affairs for Abta, Luke Pollard, said that they fully support the United States government’s wish to encourage people to visit their country. However, charging visitors $14 each to fund their drive seems like a rather odd way of doing it. He went on to say that consumers should go online to obtain their Electronic System for Travel Authorization application before September 8 to avoid this charge. This application is valid for two years, so if people intend to visit the United States in the next 24 months, they should go online now.

Abta announced back on August 26 that some 1.8 million Brits are expected to head overseas during the bank holiday this weekend. Now the hunt for cheap flights, cheap hotels and cheap car rentals begins. Experts point out that company comparison sites are the best way to make sure that travelers get the best deal on the travel that they are looking for.
