It now seems that Continental Airlines has just recently announced new services between Orange County and Maui. As of now, it seems that these new services will be launching on March 7th, 2010. In addition, the company did increase its daily, previously announced service between Orange County and Honolulu, which also launches on March 7th 2010.

Jim Compton, the Continental Airlines executive vice president of marketing, said that they will continue to see solid demand for travel to Hawaii. He noted that they are operating the new flights with the right sized aircrafts for the market and are very confident this new service will be a big success.

The plan is to run the Orange County to Maui flights four times a week. They will be departing from John Wayne Airport at 5:20 pm and then arriving at Maui’s Kahului Airport at 8:05 pm. The return flight will depart Maui at 11:10 pm and arrive back at Orange County at 7:45 am the next day. However, this will change on Saturdays, when the plane will depart 40 minutes later. Continental will use a Boeing 737-700 on the new route, with 124 seats. There are plans to increase this service to daily flights when summer hits next year.

On top of this, Continetal Airlines is hoping to increase from four times a week to daily on the previously announced service between John Wayne Airport and Honolulu International Airport. These new flights will depart Orange County daily at 9 am and arrive in Honolulu at 11:45. When returning from Honolulu, they will leave at 1 pm.
