For any travelers that will be flying out of Denver International Airport, some very good holiday advice has now been given. The airport is now saying that all travelers that will be traveling for Thanksgiving should arrive in the ticketing lobbies about two hours before take off. This is due to the increase crowd size. Although this is advice that is being given for Denver International Airport, officials note that this is good information no matter what airport travelers are flying out of.
Almost 930,000 people use the airport during Thanksgiving for the same week last year. This makes it one of the busiest travel weeks of the whole year. Travel sites like Orbitz.com are now estimating that Denver International Airport will be the third busiest airport in the country during this same week. This information is based on ticket sales so far.
Airlines have reduced the number of available seats by 1 to 1.5 percent this year when compared to 2008. Thus, planes will be more crowded. Passengers that need to check in bags should be in line in plenty of time to get their bags checked in and make it to their gate.
Some other holiday tips that Denver International Airport offered to travelers included checking with airlines before the traveler leaves their home. This should be done to insure that the flight is still on time and to check in online if at all possible. It is also a good idea to leave any kind of Christmas package or other gifts unwrapped. This is due to the fact that the Transportation Security Administration may have to unwrap the gift to check its contents.
