It now seems that the ongoing fight between the founder of easyJet, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, and the board of directors for the airline has now landed them all in court. This news comes as Stelios chooses to take the airline to court in a battle which could limit the operations of the no frill airline. This court battle could even lead to a name change.

The Chancery Division of the High Court is due to start hearing a two year legal case on Monday over how much money the airline should make from services, including hotels and car hire. Should the judge choose to side with Sir Stelios, the airline could be forced to drop or limit some of its lucrative sidelines and remove the name easyJet from their company.

The confusion among the passengers of the airline could severely damage the airline. Of course, changing the name would also severely lighten the pockets of the airline as well. Unfortunately for the airline, Sir Stelios and two of his siblings are the largest shareholders of the company.

Although the details of the dispute have been kept pretty quiet, they do seem to focus on Sir Stelios’s frustration with how the airline is being run. It also seems to be linked to the ability of the airline to found new businesses using the “easy” name.

No matter what the dispute is really over, there is no doubt to anyone that it does have something to do with the bad relationship between the founder and the board of directors. In fact, Sir Stelios just recently resigned from the board of directors last month.
