According to recent reports, two women have just recently tried to board an easyJet plane with a dead relative. The flight was bound for Germany out of Liverpool’s John Lennon airport.
The two women chose to push their 91-year-old deceased relative through the airport by way of a wheelchair. Just like a scene from the movie “Weekend at Bernie’s”, the two women put sunglasses on the man before trying to check in. However, the check in staff became suspicious, and the man was prevented from boarding the plane.
The police believe that the dead man was actually driven about 35 miles to the airport by way of a taxi. The women were arrested on suspicion of failing to give notification of a death. However, they were released later on bail.
Police went on to say in a statement that they were alerted of the death of a 91-year-old man in the terminal building at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The two women that were in control of the man were ages 41 and 66. Right now the actual cause of death for the old man is still not known.
This breaking story once again shows people trying to beat the system. Instead of having the dead man’s body properly delivered to Germany for a funeral, they figured it would be cheaper to just fly the dead body on a budget flight. Although they are correct in that thinking, someone must have forgotten to tell them that it’s illegal to try and fly a dead man on a plane, and to not notify the authorities of a death.
