Holiday Inn has announced that they will be offering special rates over the Christmas period so that families can avoid the traditional Christmas stress by off loading the in-laws. The new mother-in-law price is a twenty-five percent discount on rooms from 23^rd December through to the 29^th. The special room rates will be offered to all mothers-in-law who have been packed of by their families at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels. There are 194 of these establishments throughout the U.K.

Some of the burden of having the extended family to stay over the Christmas will no doubt be eased by the knowledge that there will come a time when they will have to leave for the night. Holiday Inn say that they hope that by offering cheaper deals on rooms for visiting members of the family they can help to take some of the stress away from other members of the family over the busy Christmas period.

Family relationship expert Kirsten Gronning said that the Christmas holidays were sometimes a time when families felt more stress because of commitments, planning and catering for the big day. She went on to say that the incidence of family members arguing with each other over Christmas could go up by as much as five times.
