It seems like there is nothing that people will not try and smuggle into airports nowadays, and this goes for animals as well. Just recently a man was caught at the Los Angeles International Airport at customs. It was here that staff found that the man was trying to smuggle in 15 live lizards that he had strapped to his chest. Federal officials had to be called in to take the man away.

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service said just last Friday that the man, 40-year-old Michael Plank of California, was trying to return from Australia when he was stopped. The United States Customs agents found two geckos, two monitor lizards and ll skinks, which is another type of lizard, fasten to his body.

According to reports, Michael Plank has now been released on a $10,000 bond and will be arraigned in federal court on December 21st. Authorities said that although it may not seem like a big deal to try and sneak lizards into a country, this is something that is strictly regulated. Since Mr Plank did not have a permit for the lizards, he was breaking the law.

Now the big question is why was Plank trying to sneak in the lizards from Australia? After all, he had to break the law to do this. Authorities say that he was doing it for money. The total value of the lizards was said to be around $8,500. Thus, it is easy to see why Plank tried to bring in the lizards; however, now the amount of money that he had to pay for the bond was more than what all of the lizards were even worth in the first place.
