Kingfisher just cannot seem to get out of the news. However, this time the airline is at least in the news for something positive. Apparently, the airline has announced that it will be accepted into the Oneworld airline alliance. The airline will be joining the Oneworld alliance as of February 10 of next year.

The chairman of Kingfisher, Vijay Mallya, had his own comments to make on this matter. He said that this move is surely going to strengthen the airline financially. It will do this through revenues from passengers transferring to their network from their new Oneworld partners. Furthermore, it will help thanks to cost reduction opportunities offered through the alliance. The airline will be flying as part of the world’s leading quality airline alliance. Kingisher will be the first carrier from the subcontinent to be accepted into any of the global airline groups.

Bruce Ashby, who is the chief executive of Oneworld, said that Kingisher Airlines will help expand Oneworld’s network substantially in key areas. Not only that, but it should enable Kingfisher Airlines to offer its own consumers a truly global network on quality partners.

This membership is going to really help out Kingfisher’s frequent flyer program, King Club. In fact, it will give its consumers more opportunities to earn and redeem the miles that they have earned. Oneworld was formed in 1999 and has 12 airlines in it as of now. This does include such big players as British Airways, American Airlines, Finnair, and Cathay Pacific. Of course, there are a number of other major airlines in the group as well.
