Rome is soon to get a new 500 million euro movie theme park. Right now the plans are for this big new park to be named after Italy’s renowned Cinecitta film studio and is to be built on the outskirts of the capital.

Cinecitta World, the name of the new park, will be constructed on 150 hectares of land at Castel Romano. According to reports so far, the theme park will include 35 family acceptations, as well as restaurants, snack bars, and shops. The park will be built in the same location where Hollywood producer Dino De Laurentiis had his studios during the 1960’s.

So far the project has already been approved by the urban commission of the Lazio council. This is the council that is responsible for the region surrounding Rome. The new park will generate almost 2,500 new jobs.

If all goes according to plan, then people can expect this new theme park to be open as early as 2011. Of course, this may not be the only Cinecitta World that opens up. The company behind the park has plans for others as well.

The good news for this new park, is that it will be finished about the time that everyone is looking to start traveling again. Right now many people are choosing not to fly internationally. However, by 2011 or later, people could be traveling to further destinations and will more than likely want to see a new family friendly theme park. Some experts say that this new theme park could grow to be as popular as Universal Studios in the United States, which currently has two parks.
