It now seems that Sandals resorts is looking to jump into the corporate market for the very first time by opening up Sandals City. This hotel, which is set to be built in Kingston, will mark a departure from the group’s very traditional, all inclusive leisure concept and break into the business marketplace.

Butch Stewart, the chairman of Sandals, said that the hotel will have conference rooms and banquet rooms. The hotel will also have racquetball and tennis courts, as well as a gym and spa. The resort is planned to be placed in the heart of the city.

Right now, in Kingston, the only other well known hotel brand that is in place is Hilton. According to the resort, the hotel is currently in the planning stages and has a while to go. In fact, the hotel does not have an opening date set as of yet.

However, observers feel that right now would be the perfect time to start building a new business hotel, and get it up and running before the economy picks back up. It would seem pointless to start building a business hotel during the time when the economy is improving.

Butch Stewart went on to add that Sandals has been able to manage to expand regardless of the current economic climate. Over the past two years the hotel chain was able to develop the Mediterranean Village, which is a 188 family suite expansion in Antigua. They were also able to add onto the Italian Village to Beaches Turks and Caicos with an extra 180 suites.
