It now appears that Spirit Airlines has canceled all of its flights through Thursday. This is adding another day to cancellations that started on Saturday as a result of the pilots’ strike. Customers who were suppose to fly with the airline are being given flight credits for the full purchase amount for their un-flown flights. They are also receiving a $100 credit toward future flights. Passengers who opt for a full refund need to contact the airline.

So far hundreds of Spirit pilots walked off the job on Saturday morning. This happened after negotiations over pay with the low cost carrier finally hit rock bottom. The two sides had been working through the night to reach an agreement but were unable to ever reach one.

At first, the airline canceled all flights from Saturday. In a message that was posted on their website, they promised passengers a refund or a flight credit. The airline said that they are continuing to work with their pilot union to reach a fair and equitable agreement that ensures the long term stability of the company. The airline wants to continue to offer the best low fares that their passengers have come to know and love.

Spirit Airlines pilots have been complaining about their pay for quite some time. They say that their pay is not up to par with their counterparts. The Airline Pilots Association said in a statement that the strike comes after nearly four years of contract negotiations and numerous attempts to find middle ground. All Spirit Airlines pilots have been working at below-market rates for years, and it’s time for that to change.
