Turbulence on a plane is always scary. However, it becomes almost terrifying if people actually get injured from said turbulence. Unfortunately, passengers on American Airlines Flight 980 just recently went through one such case of the latter.

Local reports show that an American Airlines flight from Brazil to Florida hit turbulence that sent some passengers and crew members hurling into the air. Out of the 145 people who were on the flight, at least six were injured. It would later be learned that at least five of these people would have to be taken to the hospital once the flight arrived at its destination.

The flight was able to continue to its destination without making an emergency landing thanks to a doctor, who was on board. The doctor said that he believed he had stabilized everyone on board enough to continue the flight as normal. After hearing this, the pilot made the choice to continue. The flight was able to land safely without any other problems.

Charistianne Menees, who was interviewed by CBS 4, said that it was just a terrible experience. She said that she was sure that they were going to die. Overall, she feels thankful just to be alive after that ordeal.

A spokesman for American Airlines did later confirm that they had some flight attendants that were injured to some degree during the turbulence. The airline also pointed out that it was only staff members who were badly hurt during the trouble. Injuries suffered by passengers were minimal.
