Recent reports confirm that, just recently, nine passengers boarding a United Airlines plane last Sunday night at Dulles International Airport were removed before takeoff. Apparently these people were removed after one of them made a comment to a crew member.
Megan McCarthy, who is a United Airlines spokeswoman, said on Monday that she did not have any kind of information on what was said to the crew member. However, she did confirm that the passengers were removed from the plane before takeoff.
This incident occurred on a United Airlines flight that was bound for Tampa, Florida. Airport police spoke with the crew members. Despite being removed from the plane, none of the passengers were detained.
Apparently whatever the problem was turned out to not be very serious. That is because the nine passengers were re-booked on a Monday flight after everything checked out just fine.
Although nothing is known about what was said, one thing that most people seem to agree upon is that this is the result of airlines stepping up airline security. Due to recent events, airlines, cabin crew members and airport security are a lot more jumpy about certain things. If the slightest thing seems off, then the cabin crew or other security members will not wait to throw up a red flag.
The good news is that this is keeping everyone safe on planes. However, the bad news is that a lot more people are being held over and missing their flights. A lot of times, these people pose no threat at all. Also, experts seem to agree that everyone thinks this is a good idea until it happens to them, and they are the ones that miss their flight.
