To go see a great National Park in the United States, it can be kind of costly sometimes. In fact, to go see the Grand Canyon National Park, people have to pay $25 per car. Although this is not a lot, in this economy it can be more than what some people have. However, this fee is going away, but only for a little while.
Apparently the national Park Service is waiving entrance fees at all of its 392 parks for a week. This is all part of its annual National Park Week celebration. The Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, said that they are rolling out the red carpet and inviting everyone to visit their national parks.
The National Park Service Director Job Jarvis said that most people live within a short drive of some kind of National Park. Thus, he encourages everyone to spend some time enjoying American’s Great Outdoors.
There are two holidays, Earth Day and the National Junior Ranger Day, that take place during this fee free week. Many of the National Parks will have some kind of activities going on during these days to mark the vent. Visitors should be aware that they will still have to pay the usual fees at campground and concessions stands. Guests will also have to pay any fees that are collected by third parties.
So what does this mean? Well it means that people who have been looking for either a fun day out or a short break should visit a National Park. Normally National Parks are some of the cheapest getaways that people can enjoy. Now that the fees are being waived for a week, it just got a little cheaper.
