Just recently, the Philadelphia Flyers teamed up with US Airways. This new corporate sponsorship agreement will see US Airways become the official airline of the Philadelphia Flyers. A celebration will be held with the airline’s 6,000 Philadelphia-based employees later on this month.

The senior vice president of marketing and planning for US Airways, Andrew Nocella, said that the Philadelphia Flyers represents a rich history of Philadelphia, as does US Airways. Thus, it only seems natural that a partnership be in place to give the airline an opportunity to show their commitment to the Philadelphia community, as well as Philadelphia Flyers fans.

The president of Comcast Spectacor, Peter Luukko, said that the Philadelphia Flyers are excited to have US Airways on board with them for this upcoming season. He went on to say that the US Airways hub is located right in he middle of Philadelphia. Now thousands of Philadelphia Flyers fans will see US Airways images on dash boards at the Waschovia Center. Millions of hockey fans will see the US Airways name on Comcast SportsNet. Thus, it’s a good deal for everyone.

US Airways went on to say that, aside from just being the official airline of the Philadelphia Flyers, there will be in-game contests and promotions for fans. This is just another way that US Airways hopes to show Philadelphia Flyers’ fans that they are on board and they support the partnership.

Although this is a great partnership for both groups, it’s exceptionally good for US Airways, who now is able to advertise to another market. Any kind of marketing is always good marketing, or so they say.
