Apparently new reports from US Airways shows that seven crew members had to be taken to a hospital from a North Carolina airport after complaining of headaches and nausea aboard a flight. The crew had been on a plane that had just arrived at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Saturday from St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands.

US Airways spokeswoman, Michelle Mohr, said Sunday that eight passengers were treated on the scene and went on to board connecting flights out of Charlotte. Just shortly after the plane took off from St. Thomas, crew members noticed an odor and alerted Charlotte authorities. Mohr says that the plane has been taken out of service for now. Authorities are still currently investigation what the cause of the odor was and if it had anything to do with the people getting sick on the flight.

This little outbreak of sickness comes at a very bad time for the airline industry as a whole. Although only 15 people, overall, got sick from the event, it could still be enough to scare some people out of flying. This is because so many people are still very jumpy right now due to the recent swine flu outbreak. Although this sickness could have been caused by a number of things, some people are waiting for the next outbreak to occur, whether it’s swine flu or something else.

Experts, on the other hand, say that these kinds of people are being rational. Regardless of what experts say, in the back of peoples’ minds, they are still worried about catching something in public places like airports and planes. Thus, these kinds of stories strike fear into the hearts of many people.
